Connection issues

3.1 VPN connection failed

If you can’t connect to RitaVPN, you should check the following things first:

  • lYou are running the latest version from Google Play Store or Apple App Store;
  • lYou are using Android 4.0 and above or iOS 10.0 and above;
  • lYour Android phone is not rooted;
  • lThere is no firewall on your device;
  • lYou are not running other VPN services;
  • lThere is nothing wrong with your Internet connection;

If none of the above checks solve your problem, please try the following ways to solve most common issues.

  • lSwitch to another VPN server;
  • lClose background apps and restart RitaVPN;
  • lLog out and log back in;
  • lClear app cache in settings and restart your device;
  • lUninstall RitaVPN and reinstall it.

If you still can’t connect to RitaVPN by using the above methods, please tap the menu icon on the top-left to select “Feedback”. After filling the details of the problem, please leave your email so that our technical support will contact you as soon as possible.  

3.2 How do I clear cache on my Android device?

Please follow our instructions below to clear cache if you are using an Android device:

① Open settings to choose “Apps”;

② Find RitaVPN and click “Storage”;

③ Tap “Clear data” and “Clear cache”;

④ Restart your device and open RitaVPN.

3.3  Prompted connection succeeds but no Internet connection

If it prompts connection succeeds and there is no Internet connection, please make sure there is nothing wrong with your WiFi network or 4G mobile network. Then, open multiple apps to see whether all of them can’t connect to the Internet or just one or several apps fail to connect to the Internet.

  • If all apps can’t connect to the Internet, please try the following methods:
  • lSwitch to another VPN server;
  • lClose background apps and restart RitaVPN;
  • lLog out and log back in;
  • lClear app cache in settings and restart your device;
  • lUninstall RitaVPN and reinstall it.
  • If only one app or several apps fail to connect to the Internet, please tap the menu icon on the top-left to select “Feedback”. After filling the apps that have no Internet connection, please leave your email so that our technical support will contact you as soon as possible.

3.3 Unstable VPN connection, frequent connection drops

If your device disconnects from RitaVPN after connecting to it for a while, please check the following things:

  • lYou are running the latest version from Google Play Store or Apple App Store;
  • lYou are a subscriber. Due to server cost, free users can use RitaVPN for a limited time. Every 15 – 30 minutes, you have to reconnect to the VPN. If you want to enjoy no-drops and unlimited VPN service, you can purchase a subscription plan;
  • lThere is nothing wrong with your WiFi network or 4G mobile network;
  • lBattery optimization is disabled on your device. Because it will result in apps being stopped by the system. To use RitaVPN normally, please keep RitaVPN running on the background.

3.4 Slow Internet connection

Many factors can impact your Internet connection speed. To solve your problem, please check the following things:

  • lYou are running the latest version from Google Play Store or Apple App Store;
  • lYou are a subscriber. RitaVPN can meet free users’ daily requirements to access Facebook, YouTube and Netflix, but there is bandwidth restriction due to server cost. If you want a high-speed Internet connection, you can be a subscriber of RitaVPN. Then, you will be able to enjoy no-drops and unlimited VPN service;
  • lYou choose the optimal server. Due to server fluctuation, some servers will fluctuate occasionally. If your connection speed is unstable, please try to switch to another server. In general, RitaVPN will automatically choose the optimal server for you.

3.5 Poor call quality on What’s App

What’s App video calls require high network speed. In most cases, the poor video call quality is due to the poor network, please first confirm that your WiFi / 4G network is stable and has a fast speed. If there is nothing wrong, please try to change the server.

If you are in high demand for video calls, we suggest you upgrade to a paid account for a more stable and high-speed experience.

3.6 Cannot find the server I want to connect to

RitaVPN now offers servers in popular regions worldwide. Besides, we keep on providing new servers to you.

If the current servers can not meet your requirements, please tap the menu icon on the top-left to select “Feedback”. Let us know where you need servers and we will try our best to meet your requirements.
