SparkShorts
SparkShorts is an experimental animated short film project. According to Jim Morris, it was designed to encourage artists to be creative, explore new storytelling techniques, and experiment with new workflows, as well as to find new filmmakers at Pixar.
Pixar employees can participate in the SparkShorts project as long as they have a good idea. The company will give those creative artists financial support without any intervention and restrictions. But they need to complete the work within six months. These short films require narrative and technical innovation at low costs.
Currently, six short films were announced, including “Purl”, “Smash and Grab”, “Kitbull”, “Float”, “Wind”, and “Loop”. “Purl”, “Smash and Grab” and “Kitbull” were launched on Pixar’s official YouTube channel and received good responses. They are all available on Disney Plus now. The fourth short film “Float” premiered on Disney Plus on November 12, 2019. As for the other two, they will be released on Disney Plus on December 13, 2019 and January 10, 2020, respectively.

Purl

Smash and Grab
It tells the story about two robots working on the futuristic train. For friendship, they help each other escape the train. This is a WALL-E style short film. You will be touched by the friendship between Smash and Grab.
Kitbull
A stray kitten met a pit bull who is domesticated. At first, the cat was scared of the dog who was a stranger to him. Gradually, they became good friends while playing together. The kitten helped the pit bull to escape from his owner. Then, they became a pair of stray partners. Finally, both of them were adopted by a kind couple.
Float
A father finds that his son is different from kids because he can fly. Although the father tries to hide his son’s ability to fly from other people, it is made public. So, he has to make a decision: escape from all of this or accept his son.
Wind
A boy and his grandmother are trapped in a crater deep inside the Earth. They have to find a way to go back to the surface of the Earth. Every day, they use tethers to try to get every floating rock so that they can make a rocket. With the rocket, they will be able to get out of the crater.
Loop
A boy is late for his summer camp adventure. He needs to accomplish the task with an autistic girl. This would be a huge challenge for him. Do you want to know how he helps the girl while venturing out for the canoe ride? Come and see what happens.
Pick of the Litter
Pick of the Litter is a TV series inspired by the film of the same name. The film version is a documentary that was released in 2018. The new TV series will premier on Disney Plus on December 20, 2019.
